Example Hardship Letter

12.27.2007

To whom it may Concern;

My family has gone through some hardships over the past two years. I am trying to keep everything together as best as possible, but life has not been easy. I was working in the mortgage industry doing very well and providing for my family; however in August of 2006 I was laid off. Even though my wife’s job at Chase Mortgage is paying her well, all the bills make it very difficult for us to keep everything together. I looked and looked for a job but did not find one until February 2007 where I worked for XXXXXXX Law firm, only to get laid off from there in September 2007.

At this point, being laid off twice in less than a year, I had to work so I got a job at HEB food store. I work there full time, however they pay a whole lot less than the other jobs I had. My wife is still currently working at Chase Mortgage as a financial officer and, to help get us out of this hole, we have cut back on a lot of extra expenses that are not needed. I also have taken on part-time jobs as building security and my wife also works as a book-keeper and an instructor for concealed handgun classes. I would like to stay in my home and my wife and I are working extremely hard to keep everything together as best we can. I do not want to have to move my family if I don’t have to. I want to stay in my home and I hope that Bank XYZ will give us the opportunity.

Thank you,
